How does chess influence my life? It is my main addiction, and takes up MUCH too much time! It keeps me from getting more important (but less fun) things done.

Oh, well. And it's all Alice's fault.

Definitely discipline! Like in real life being cautious, prepare, patience, creativity, and sportsmanship.

Chess simply makes you mind work in different way, even if you're not aware of it. :-) But I believe that a good, or at least a decent chess player, should own a flexible, rational, analitic mind that deals with everyday life situations with logic and care.

I also believe a real chess player must be flegmatic and calm. But I might be completely wrong. :-D
