If I suspect an opponent of using a chess engine to make his moves. What should I do?
On other correspondence chess sites I choose to play on and ignore this players in the future. Is there a better way to deal with this item that is becoming a bigger problem in this kind of servers?

Do you know the old saying that "the only prevention against burglars is praying" ? It is the same thing with computers. You never know when you're going to face it, but it will happen sooner or later. Some time ago I played a 2200 guy at the time who, in a 42 moves game, and a very wild one, chose the same top moves by Fritz 8, playing a perfect game. What can we do about it?

Well, I think it is something I will never fight against. It is kind of being honest... I dont care if people cheat, I only care for my consciousness, and I can have fun anyway loosing or wining.
If the site dont allow, that should be enough.
I think who cheat using engines when it is not allowed are people who are not prepared to loose.
Anyway, I would support the idea of creating a new rating system and another category of chess (or chess variant) that allow people to use engine. It is called in some sites "Advanced Chess", or "Computer Aided Correspondence Chess".
But unfortunately, I also think this will not solve the problem with cheaters... People who like to cheat wants to play "engine against human", not "engine against engine"...
So, just ignore them, never acuse anyone without prove, and remember what csparrow said on the other topic about this subject:

Since that the computers had made its entrance in scene, two epidemics had devastated the postal chess: the first, the dodgers who use engines; second, the players who never lose for a human - all his defeats always are explained because his opponents always used a computer... Sincerely, I don't know which is worse. |
Also, I recommend to keep this discussion in that topic, to not create another topic with the same opinions. (It has already 35 answers)
Cheers and have fun!
