Thanks for the pointer! It's a shame that the excerpt is just the table of contents, a rather strange page of flowchart and the example games (i.e., no pages of ordinary text from the book) but the typesetting looks much nicer than the ``21st Century'' edition.

Same here, I love his game collection books. They may be older but no one can beat his writing style that draws the reader into a game, IMHO.

I'm not sure. I think the book may be released overseas first and then stateside, like books from Gambit. Then again Amazon is pretty flaky when it comes to stock levels of some books.

I was hoping for "meat" in the sample as well. My Hays version is getting all tattered and nasty looking anyway, so it's time for me to get a replacement.
