I'm in a game right now that is just kings and pawns. I'm almost sure that I'll lose one way or another. Is it better for my ratings to resign before he gets a queen or to play it out to checkmate? does it matter?

I think it does not make any difference.
If the position is really hopeless, it's more a matter of sportsmanship. Don't play until the checkmate, but resign before that. Of course only if its really hopeless.

only thing that matters is ur likeness Q()# or 0-1

the rating is calculated based on your and your opponent's rating, and that's all.
It's "sportly" to resign the game, but it's NOT an obligation. My chess coach ever told me NOT TO RESIGN, for example, unless I was playing against a Fide Master or someone better than it. The same way you committed mistakes, your opp can do it do. Remember that. :)

If you feel you have at least one chance, you have to keep playing. Even to the last. If not, is better to resign. Maybe you can make a draw.
The machine doesn't analize the game, it took the winners and the elo information to calculates new elo for both players...that's all.
