Same thing with me, I also gave up playing chess when I was a teenager because I was in the Philippine movies at that time, playing basketball in school and dancing the ballroom dance everywhere.
I just resume playing chess about more or less 10 years ago but I play chess just for fun, make more friends and to exercise my brain.

Just try to learn one opening, about 15 variations. Once you learn this it will stick in your head, especially if you play about 50 games using this opening.

Just enjoying to have fun and having new friends here and at the same time just mentioning my real hobby (ChaCha, Tango, Jive, Salsa and more).
