Why is a stalemate considered as being equal to a draw?
It seems like it should at least be counted as a "half win."

its draw because it is half win and half loss...!

So it's half-win, half-what? And the better half is the win - and the other half? It's Saturday morning and I was half-asleep when stumbling upon your post and I am still rolling on the floor laughing:-)

it is a draw because in a winning position the stronger side makes a mistake... 8-)

You can't "half win" something :-P

If you share your win you'll get one half, but as one half (the win) is gone now, what remains is the loss. This is the half you give to your opponent and the whole mess is called draw. I am talking bilge? You're damn right:-)
