PKC (Protected King Check) Chess Varient

Within the past couple of years, I though of an interesting idea for "check," which would make an interesting chess variant.
It would reduce the number of draws that occur and give the king more power, when used in combination with other pieces.

Any king could move next to the opponent's king, as long as it is protected, (and not being attacked by another piece.)

An example of check is the following:

Flip

Above, the black king is in check by the white king. It cannot capture the white king because doing so would put it in danger of capture by the bishop.

However, black could get out of check with the following move:

Flip

Above, black got out of check by protecting his king with the knight. If the white king captured the black king, it would be in danger of capture by the knight.

Following is an example of checkmate:

Flip

Above, black has checkmated the white king with his king, which is protected with a bishop.

Note: Above is not a true checkmate, (as was later mentioned by two people on the forum,) since the king can move to a protected spot on the board.

To further reduce the number of draws, PKC should also not count stalemate as a partial win (although checkmate would be possible most of the time.)

This variant could also be combined with other variants, such as Chess960 or Bughouse chess.
(It would be nice if Queen Alice included these chess variants.)

Hey dude, quick question... in the first graph, what would happen if black were to play "KxK" ? Oh, yeah, that's right, he'd capture the opponent's king and win (since it's the game's main goal really). Yes, he would have his king captured next, but he'd win *right* before, so who cares?

You really need to get a girlfriend or something, and bother her instead of us with your wacko ideas.

Yeah, he seems very confused. Firstly, he allows Kings to move into check. Then he says they can't!

Bonkers :-P

PKC is a chess variant, so the definition of 'check' in it is different than the definition of 'check' in regular chess.
In PKC chess, kings are only allowed to capture unprotected kings.
'Check' is defined as occupying a square where the king can be captured.
In PKC chess, a king may move next to another king, if protected, because it cannot legally be captured.

The rules for 'check' are different than those in regular chess. It is, after all, a chess variant, which by definition means that it has different rules.
I do however realize that I should have defined the rules more clearly on the first post.

Unlike some people, ;-) I like thinking creatively about chess and going beyond the regular game.

I like...going beyond the regular game.

Stay well away from mine ;-)
