Kouvitch, I mean to be consistent on using what you recommended but I haven't been. Even so, I am doing it, even though inconsistently. In doing so, I've noticed the following, which everyone else here may already have noticed: The knight covers every square of opposite color that is two squares away. That is, not the immediately surrounding 8 squares (at the most), but the 16 squares surrounding those 8 (actually the 8 of those 16 that are the opposite color). Nothing new, just a slightly different way of looking at it, at least for me.
