Only downfall with the "kan" is d6, becomes critically weak in the endgame and during middle game play....
You really have to know how to play the Kan before venturing it's interesting lines...

1.e4 g5!!! is the move!
|

Against 1. e4 I think the better is Sicilian 1... c5 and in sencond place, the old and good French 1... e6 ;-)
But there restric odds to consider ! If you not learn enought how play in Sicilian or French, so you must play simple and move 1... e5 and going to Giuoco Piano or Ruy Lopes

My favourite move to play against 1. e4 is 1... e5 :) .

Always 1.. c5 trying to use Najdorf variation.
