I played from work at lunchtime today and had the same problem I have at home. Oh, well. Thanks.

If the pointer is not exactly in the middle of the square, I am unable to do anything. I have had to reposition it, in order to select a piece.

dnptrs, I think you've hit it. OK, so it's my mousemanship. Sigh. Shown the light by the player who gave me my first defeat on QA. Thanks. (That's thanks for the insight, not for the defeat.)

Yeah, but I just lost a 3rd one today for the same reason. Good grief. Will I ever learn? 3 in a week. This was like the other two: This time, I click on the bishop, decide I don't want to move the bishop, click on the bishop again to release it, then click on the pawn and move it. Then, when I come back to the game for my next move, I find the bishop was moved, not the pawn. Cost me the game. I need to remember to look at what actually happened before I hit the "Move" button. Duh. Can I blame it on senility? Cool. Sounds okay to me...
