I will occasionally use a database or book in an opening; now, for example, I'm trying to learn the French and don't remember how to respond to white's moves. But I would never consider using my computer for position analysis until after the game is over. What's the point?

Hi, Tewald, Just to know how people are doing. I am playing like OTB without any help. I understand the site rule that we "cannot use a computer or computer program to evaluate or analyze a game", but i didnt know that "It is also allowed to consult chess books and opening databases". It´s all in http://www.queenalice.com//about.php Like you said a database could be usefull to learning new openings! Thank you.

If you don't understand an opening, your should look it up; that's the point of correspondence chess?

I thought you were talking about computers. Still I think it's best to use your mind. So there.
