Sorry, but I didn't read anything about this earlier. So, what did you discuss about using, or not using, chess engines?
By the way, I disagree of using it.

The use of endgame tablebases has not yet benn ruled on.

Endgame tablebases? Wow--I never even thought of that. I can't say exactly why, but that does seem like cheating, even though siting an opening book doesn't. Am I wrong on that?

I would say using endgames tablebases is cheating, since they have perfect knowledge of the endings for which they have been computed. Its one thing to know you can mate with K+B+B or K+B+N against a lone king, yet another to be able to do it all on your own.
