I agree with our friends Emoura / Bonow, its dificult to find a chess club in most of Brasilians cities. There is few or not public incentive for this sport in Brazil. And time to go to a club is another problem most of us have.

In my opinion (i´d tried others free sites, at least 5 that i remenber now) QueenAlice is the best. Nowdays i play (turn based) just in QA, because its realy free and there is no limit of games you can play.

QA has page translation in portuguese that is a must for most of us.

I´d like to know about other sites like this ;-)
QA is really great!

In my opinion chess is not popular in Brazil, I talk popular in a classic way, with clubs and a chain. Is very hard find people who play regularly out of the internet, I support my opinion in that fact.
I realy like chess, but I didn't have a fellow to play in the last 8 years (The time I had spent in University during my degree and master course). I remember to play 6 times, only against the same player.
My university have a program to stimulated the practice of tennis, soccer and others but none for chess.
So I believe the great part of brazilians who play chess here is because they don't have any fellow to play a "real" chess game.
That's my reason to be a defensor of QA.
Sorry for my english!

In my opinion there are 03 main reasons:

1 - QueenAlice is totally free.

2 - The site is simple and easy to navigate.

3 - Good "Reviews" from other "Internet Brazilian Chess Players".
