Well in one of my games I am up a queen and rook vs. queen with mate in 2

I think it is so refreshing when I have one of these games Philidor mentioned, no kidding! :-) Sometimes I have so many hard games going on, that it is comforting to play some cat and mouse (if I´m winning), just for the fun of it. I can feel like in the Tom and Jerry cartoon , in one of those chases with Jerry desperately trying to run while Tom has its paw right on Jerry´s tail! :-D

Now, we have to agree that resigning lost games is weird for many. I say this because I know many people who have learned by themselves, playing casually with some friends, and have never read a chess book, or played tournaments. when I invite them to play here I always "teach" them this resigning rule for lost games and they get very surprised! ?:-( They thought sportmanship was just the opposite! They argument: Imagine you are in a stadium watching your football team win 5 X 0 and sudenly, 10 minutes to the end, the other team simply leaves the field! wouldn´t you get mad? OK but chess is a fight! Alright, but how about boxing, who is the braver? Is it the guy who throws the towel, or is it the one who stands up till the end, sometimes even bleeding? OK, OK you´re right but just resign the d... game or you´ll have people mad at you posting in the forums to complain about it :-D

thank guys for all your input. the reason i am asking this is because I wanted to have other player's input on how i will react to a strong player who just asked me to resign. I am down by 2 points and admittedly an inferior position. I'm about to resign anyway in the next couple of moves when the advantage may be more visible but i just hate it when these strong players just try to impose their superiority on weaker players to ask them to resign in a game. Weaker players may not see how the strong players view the game and should be a consideration but this player insists that i resign in his comments to me instead of playing more... nevertheless, this motivates me to play better and beat this player someday... :-D

PS... just now this player just told me that "I should have the intelligence to know that I will be mated in 7 or 8 moves..." can someone stronger than this player beat this guy and mock him when he is in a losing position... >:-( (hahaha... just kidding. i just don't like the feeling when i get insulted like this but i can handle this player.)

When I'm playing a stronger player, I resign when I know that I could win if we turned the board around. Until then, I can learn from playing on.
