yes..i also agree...i think it is rude for someone who is truly losing ( really obvious ) to ask for a draw...

ok. i guess you guys are right. we should resign if it is obviously that you are losing and take no offense in another player asking you to resign if you are at least 3 or more points behind or in a matng position that you cannot get out of.
However, if you ask a player to stop giving comments that you should resign and still continues to give you unsolicited comments like "you are pathetic", "you should be intelligent enough to know you are losing" should be constituted as rude and unacceptable, right?
well, it ended that i was mated in two moves because i didn't see the mating move myself (because i am still a weak player and distracted hahaha - the latter justification is of course crap).
Nevertheless, thanks for all your input and this will help me deal better with these kind of players in this website.

i don't take offense as i realize and they realize that i cannot eventually win and it is not of much value to play to the very last piece |
You should not resign because your opponent knows that you have no hope; you should resign when you know how to win from your opponent's side of the board.
Annoying repeated draw offers are unethical, just as asking one's opponent to resign is unsporting. But, again, etiquette rather than ethics is the appropriate frame for this issue.

Hi Alib,
You are expected to act courteously toward opponents and other users of the site. Players who use abusive or insulting language or who are disruptive will be banned from this site. |
The quote is from the "About This Site" link of Queen Alice.
IMHO, phrases like "you are pathetic", "you should be intelligent enough to know you are losing" constitute insulting language. As such, it can be used as basis for asking Miguel to ban your opponent from the site.
