I still don't know how to play!

My brother taught me how to play when I was about 5; he was then 18. He let me win the first time, then I lost to him every other game. To this very day, I still stink at chess, but love the game.

I learnt the rules from a book at 8. In my earliest days of playing chess, I kept losing to my father, but easily beating my friends in school. After I managed to checkmate my father, I borrowed several chess books from the library and slowly built up my skills. A book I highly recommend is Jeremy Silman's "The Amatuer's Mind". When I entered secondary school in 2004, I joined my school's chess team. I'll be 15 in less than two months, and I'll continue playing and improving.

Learning by my self after I watched my friends play. I only learnt the moves a week ago. Still uneasy about it though.
