I see no point in using an engine to cheat with. I mean arent you here because so YOU can beat the opponent and not Shredder, Hiarcs, etc? I'd rather win on my own accord then use machines, and it shows in my games  like I'll drop pieces by basic inattention alot of the time, no machine would do such a thing, especially my 3300 ELO rated Deep Shredder (that's the rating it say's it is on 10 minute a side unleashed! I think maybe 2600 ELO would be more accurate as Kramnik is rated in the area of 2800, nontheless a 2600 ELO machine would rocket you up to around 3000 ELO on this site in no time, but that would be pointless as I'm nowhere near a 3000 ELO. And if I lose it's no big deal, just means I have to study Deep Shredder 9's annotations of Kramniks, Leko's, etc games better. Plus if you use a machine it's bad as OTB your performance will suffer as you won't have anything to learn from. If you think to yourself (IE: Allright, I have these material imbalances and he has these imbalances, if the black queen wasnt controling d7 then Qxd7 would either mate or win alot of material, aha Bb6! after ...Qxb6 Qxd7+ looks great, and what if he declines? well ...Qb8 Qxd7+,Kf8 isnt too comfortable for black, etc) so assess, plan, and calculate, chess is really that simple.

É óbvio que diversas pessoas usam. Vocês acham que os primeiros colocados aqui e no gameknot não usam?!? Duvido! Devem haver poucas exceções. Vejam seus jogos e vejam as pessoas que são e verão que alguns nem rating tem, quanto mais terem aquele nível de xadrez.
Databases são permitidos, até onde sei. No máximo jogo aberturas contra engines, mas comigo mesmo, até porque meu database é ótimo.
E que se aprenda uma coisa, VOCÊ NÃO APRENDE JOGANDO COM SEU ENGINE. É melhor tomar uma lição de seu adversário do que ficar com medo de perder e diminuir o rating e usar o engine. Primeiro, porque seu rating será irreal. E segundo, porque uma lição aprendida numa partida jogada vale muito mais, e é muito mais absorvida do que centenas em que você vê seu engine jogar. Não é a mesma coisa.
Se alguém realmente quer aprender, que jogue. Senão, será só um bobo mexendo as peças que seu programa joga. Perda de tempo.
Para fazer um paralelo e vcs terem uma idéia. O rating do GM Rafael Leitão no gameknot é de cerca de 2100 (Rafpig), sendo que o melhor do site tem mais de 2500. Um GM com rating FIDE de 2600 tem 2100 e um sujeito desconhecido, cujo nome nem consta na lista dos 100 melhores jogadores de seu país o supera em mais de 400 pontos.
É ÓBVIO que 90% ou mais dos jogadores top da net usam engines, tem sistemas de databases e aberturas já coordenados e preparados para os fazerem render melhor, etc.
Eu acho patético uma pessoa ficar somente reproduzindo lances de um programa, mas há gosto pra tudo.
