There are a number of ways you can try to detect this, but with playing chess over large time delays against unverified players you cannot really know (people may email others for advice etc., not just use computer analysis). People would know if I'm cheating, because I usually blunder twice a match in online play (e.g. 3 min games etc.), but not sure if even my friends would see much of a difference in my play in long games due to the length of time available to remove obvious blunders, and also to look deeply for 'surprise' moves.

I think that cheating by using a comouter is rare here (Qalice). I imagine that it takes time and there is no incentive. I own fritz. If I asked a freind to make the moves that fritz suggests he would want to be paid for his time. It seems to me that those that use fritz are giving away their time for free. I dont care weather I am playing Bob, Bob and his friends, or Bob and his computer. I just want to play.

How would using a chess engine not save time?

I have no idea how to use it because I have never use a chess engine to date.
