No point in worrying about engine users. The games I play don’t mean anything except to me and I’m only playing for fun so if I run into an occasional engine user and lose it’s not worth fretting about. All my games live and die in obscurity and go to a db graveyard never to see the light of day again.

The players don't use the computer to select the move but they do use it to make sure their chosen move doesn't drop material and so on. |
If it did, they'd deserve to lose it. That's the whole point of the game. And if they're using engines to "deselect" moves are they not, therefore, effectively selecting the ones they play?

You should use them to remind yourself of how you improved and to further develop your skills. Hang them on the wall and be proud of them. Point at them when you have friends and relatives round for tea.

I use "winboard" to view my games. It is a nice feeling to see the pieces move automatically for the kill.

When a player uses a computer the computer is playing he is not. He is simply an interface between his computer and his computer's opponent. The time spent seems like a waste to me.
